WATCH D.O.G.S. ®. is one of the nation’s largest & most respected school-based, family, & community engagement organizations in the country.

Since the program’s creation in 1998, more than 6,800 schools across the country have launched a WATCH D.O.G.S.® program of their own.

WATCH D.O.G.S.® has two primary goals:

  • Provide a positive male role model for students; and
  • Provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security, reduce bullying, and enrich the educational experience for students

-Volunteer one day per semester, at Bluebonnet Elementary.

-Assist with morning drop-off/afternoon pick-up.

-Help in various classrooms throughout the day.

-Help with specific teacher requests as they come up throughout the school year

-Read a book, work with a small group, help with a specials program (Art, Music, STEM, Physical Education), shelve books in the library, etc.

-Monitor recess and lunch.

-Have FUN and show students that father-figures are to be respected

-Other opportunities come up throughout the year from Bluebonnet Elementary staff administration

Is the Watch D.O.G.S program related to the PTA?

While the WATCH D.O.G.S.® Program is administered by the school campus in the majority of cases, it is true that it is an initiative run by the PTA in a large number of cases. Many times, it is thought that PTA is for women and WATCH D.O.G.S.® is for men. Both are more effective when everyone is involved, and both benefit from close collaboration.
